Wicks-Coulter Organ
Since its organization as a congregation in 1925, music has always been a prominent part of worship at Morningside. A pipe organ, however, was not a resource until the completion of our current building in 1949. A victim of severe water damage over the past 50 years, Morningside’s magnificent Wicks pipe organ installed in 1956 has undergone complete rebuilding and modernizing.
On this page you can find a history of the rebuilt instrument — henceforth known as the Wicks-Coulter organ for the improvements installed by Atlanta organ builder Robert I. Coulter — from its initial installation in 1949 to its current renovated and restored condition, a description of the project undertaken by Coulter-Organ builders, and a listing of the specifications for the Wicks-Coulter organ as it now exists.
