Connect With Adults

Morningside offers lots of opportunities for adults to Be Together. Our Affinity Groups reflect the diversity of ages and stages found at Morningside. These groups are open to everyone looking to connect!

Couples and Friends

Couples & Friends invite all couples to join them for informal dinner gatherings, usually on the second Saturday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Each month, we gather at a host couple's home or a neighborhood restaurant of their choice. Couples of all ages—members and nonmembers, married and partnered, even friends of couples!—are entirely welcome. We attract new couples for the first time almost every month. Watch for announcements on this site (check the Events link), and read the back of the Bulletin on Sundays and the midweek eNews@Morningside email for specific information and updates.

LGBT & Friends

Seeking to enhance and celebrate Christian life for all believers, LGBT & Friends hosts dinner-and-discussions quarterly, along with other special events throughout the year. Watch for announcements on this site (check the Events link), and read the back of the Bulletin on Sundays and the midweek eNews@Morningside email for specific information and updates about this inclusive and lively group. For more information about the group or for any questions, please email lgbtandfriends@morningsidepc.org.

Lunch bunch

All are welcome to join this open group for lunch and an informative program in Fellowship Hall (usually at noon on the third Wednesday of odd numbered months (excluding July). Focusing on food and fun, the group also plans outreach activities. Watch for announcements on this site (check the Events link), and read the back of the Bulletin on Sundays and the midweek eNews@Morningside email for specific dates and presentation topics.

RHO Readers

RHO (Red Hat Optional) Readers is a general book club for all—members, neighbors and friends—who enjoy reading and discussion (feel free to view the list of books we've read). There’s no long-term commitment to join! RHO Readers meets on the third Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m. (starting an hour earlier during the summer worship schedule) in room 201.

RHO Readers also collects Pennies for Pages at its monthly meetings to support literacy projects such as the Mommy & Me program at Memorial Drive Ministries in Decatur. Mommy & Me serves refugee children and furthers our goal of increased literacy among new Americans.

Theology on Tap

Theology on Tap is an MPC men’s group that generally meets at 7:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month for dinner and conversation in various homes. The group provides opportunities to make and meet friends and focuses on various topics and opportunities for participation in MPC’s missions—and having fun together. Watch for announcements on this site (check the Events link), and read the back of the Bulletin on Sundays and the midweek eNews@Morningside email for specific information and updates about when and where they will meet next.

FRIENDS AT MORNINGSIDE

Also known as FAM, this group seeks to create a space of fellowship, growth, and community for MPC’s young adult population. “Young Adult” is difficult to define, but the want for connection is not! This group is open to everyone and meets for Brunch one Sunday a month. FAM always has good food, good conversation, and good friends.

Women’s Roundtable

Women's Roundtable is an intergenerational group that usually meets on the fourth Monday of every month (from September to April) to enjoy good conversation, good food and wine, and great speakers who enlighten us about opportunities to serve. The group formed around the idea that women are thoughtful, passionate, and have stories to tell, and is open and welcoming to women of every age and at every stage in their lives. As with all of our small groups, be sure to watch for announcements on this site (check the Events link), and read the back of the Bulletin on Sundays and the midweek eNews@Morningside email for specific information and updates about when and where they will meet next.
